HARRISBURG PA – A new Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) website that encourages alternative methods of travel praises corporate employers in Collegeville PA and Valley Forge PA as examples of excellence among companies helping their workers to become greener
commuters.

The website, PA Commutes, launched Thursday (April 22, 2010), PennDOT announced.

An employers’ section of the website acknowledges 2009 awards won by Pfizer Inc. of Collegeville, and Vanguard Investments of Valley Forge for meeting National Standards of Excellence in commuter benefits created by the National Center for Transit Research and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The website provides resources from PennDOT, other state agencies, transportation providers, and biking clubs to help people save money and help the environment. It “offers a wide range of alternative ways to commute” and “makes it easy for workers to adapt those methods into their lives,” Transportation Secretary Allen Biehler said.
