COLLEGEVILLE PA – JGSC Group of Merchantville NJ, a downtown revitalization consultant has been hired by the Collegeville Economic Development Corp. (CEDC) to conduct a market assessment and identify economic growth opportunities within the borough, according to CEDC President Debbie Riegner.

JGSC Group has extensive experience in analyzing of downtown markets and creating strategies to stimulate economic growth in commercial districts, she said. It has begun to conduct a consumer preferences survey of people who live, work, shop, study, and visit the Collegeville area to understand which types of stores, restaurants and businesses they want.

“This is an important step in our efforts to revitalize downtown Collegeville,” Riegner said.

JGSC was selected after a competitive bid process managed by the Collegeville Main Street Program in 2009. Funding has been provided, in part, by grants from the borough and Ursinus College. Its overall effort could take up to seven months to complete. For information on the study, call Collegeville Main Street Manager Linda Flederbach at 610-454-1050.
