POTTSTOWN PA – All 43 police departments in Chester County PA will be able to share records in real time, between themselves and with county law enforcers, when network software the county is buying from CODY Systems, 1005 E. High St., Pottstown PA, is installed in coming months, the company announced in late July (2010).

The new system will give police access from mobile units or desktop computers to persons, vehicles, police incidents and more from across all police databases within the county, according to company chief executive officer Fran Heffner. It also will provide field officers with real-time officer safety alerts, such as if a person has an open warrant, is a known offender, is known to resist arrest, or if a location contains hazardous materials.

In southeastern Pennsylvania, departments in Berks, Lehigh, and Bucks counties also use CODY software, Heffner noted.

“No encounter in the field, be it a traffic stop, service of process, or investigative interview is routine” said Heffner. “Having the right information at the right time can often mean the difference between a simple encounter and a dangerous one.”
