BOYERTOWN PA – A total of $8,000 has been pledged by Cabot Supermetals, County Line Road, Boyertown PA, during the next two years to help pay for installation of a new children’s splash pad at the Boyertown Community Pool operated by the Boyertown YMCA, the Y’s chief executive officer, Teresa Geary, has announced.
Cabot, a manufacturing division of Boston MA-headquartered Cabot Corp. will donate $4,000 in 2010 and a matching amount in 2011, Geary said.
The 18-element splash pad is currently under construction, with completion expected later this summer. It replaces a wading pool that was closed during 2006. Its water features are said to present a minimized risk of drowning, are completely wheelchair accessible, and according to Geary can be used by supervised children between infancy and age 5.
So far, she said, sponsors have been secured for 11 of the 18 features. Others are sought; for more information, call 610-369-YMCA.
