WAWA PA – Yes, it’s true, a Wawa Inc. executive admits. The convenience store and gasoline station chain – which operates three locations in Pottstown, two in Limerick, and one in Gilbertsville PA – some day plans to open in states far distant from Pennsylvania. Florida has been most recently rumored, but that probably won’t happen until 2012 … at the earliest.

You might see this familiar Pennsylvania sight someday near Disney World, but not anytime soon, according to privately held Wawa Inc.

“We are at least two years away from opening any stores in a new market,” Wawa spokeswoman Lori Bruce told Convenience Store News magazine for a story it published Thursday (Sept. 2, 2010), “but we are actively engaged in looking for sites,” she acknowledged.

Recent reports by newspapers in Central Florida earlier in the week claimed privately held Wawa “is lining up sites for expanding into the Orlando and Tampa Bay areas, with plans of opening up to 15 stores in two years,” the magazine said.
